Happy holidays from the Grinch your mom warned you about!
Holiday season is almost here whether you like it or not. And though I’ll be the first to argue that holidays are a capitalist scam, I’ll also be the also admit that for those who celebrate, it can be stressful to figure out what to buy for your loved ones to show them that you love them by buying them things.
Below you’ll find my holiday gift guide. If you’re like me, you’ll just end up wanting to buy it all for yourself because, after all, if you’re not your own loved one, something’s wrong.
xoxo,
Rachroo
Rachroobear Recommends: Holiday Gift Guide 2021 Edition
For the person with a sweet tooth. Toffee! Quite possibly my favorite truffles. Sea salt caramels, excellent dark chocolate, and the “Ultimate Chocolate Bar Collection.” (As a collector myself, I’d have to say that my fave is probably the toffee coffee one, which is also sold individually.)
For lovers of kitsch and vintage knick-knacks. (Disclaimer! I’m biased because this is my Etsy where I sell weird shit that I like.)
For the insomniac (me) in your life who texts you at 4 AM. I know you’re not supposed to look at screens before bed (blue light, blah blah blah), but this app successfully puts me to sleep.
For the pain in your neck, who doesn’t love a heating pad? I have this one which I like, but I hear good things about this one, too. For a more budget-conscious option, I recommend the classic Bed Buddy, but if you wear it with a fleecy bathrobe for at least an hour a day for many years, it might get pilly and look like an old tube sock! Not that I know this from experience.
For plant parents, my go-to watering can/spritzer and mister.
For pet parents! I got these last year for the holidays and was delighted by the results. (Check out Wally and Georgie!)
For pets! A few Wally and Georgie-approved items: This puzzle toy (if you buy the small and the large, they fit together to make an even more awesome puzzle toy!) This double layer, reversible (and stylish) fleece. And this device, (which is probably more for pet parents) that makes it easy to clean muddy paws.
For the person who thinks their shit don’t stink.
For the person who thinks they don’t stink (but actually has BO). Nothing says stocking stuffer like deodorant!
For the person who likes to sing in the shower. My partner got me one of these for my birthday last year, and it’s just 🤌
For beverage aficionados. The best mugs for an excellent tactile experience. On-the-go tumbler for hot drinks. On-the-go cup for cold drinks. Temperature control electric kettles.
For the home chef, aspiring home chef, or roommate that you wish were a home chef. I recently got my knives sharpened at Bernal Cutlery here in SF, and I can’t stop talking about it. A gift card would be nice. I also love the spices from Burlap & Barrel.
For the friend who won’t shut TF up about natural wine. (Also me.)
For everyone, books. And masks. These are my favorite cloth masks.
Reading: “The Man: A Compilation” | What can’t you copyright a recipe? | In defense of emodiversity | A wild profile of Jeremy Strong and a profile of Kevin Durant that is so poignant and so beautifully written it makes me consider becoming a sports person.
Listening: “The Dropout: Elizabeth Holmes on Trial”
Love 2 hear it: Chris Cuomo fired
Eating: Candy cane ice cream with some improvisational ganache and granola because I am a chef!!!
Coming Soon: The highly anticipated book list you’ve been waiting for! (This is not a “best books published in 2021” reading list but rather a list of my favorite books that I read this year because a.) I did not read all the books published in 2021, and b.) I can only recommend books I’ve actually read!)
